Aftercare
After microneedling your skin is more sensitive for a while. Aftercare is about three things: soothing, keeping moisture in and protecting against the sun. Here you'll find products made for that, such as aftercare serums, gentle masks, repair balms and SPF50. Our retinol and vitamin C aftercare serums are specially developed to be used within 15 minutes after microneedling. Always follow the treatment advice that comes with your pen or serum.
The first days after microneedling
Within 15 minutes: aftercare serum
Apply a Glowteq aftercare serum right after treatment, such as the retinol or vitamin C serum specially developed for this.
Day 0–3: soothe & hydrate
Your skin may feel red and warm. Use gentle, fragrance-free soothing products and leave make-up off a little longer.
Every day: sun protection
Use SPF50, even when it's cloudy. Freshly treated skin burns faster and is more prone to pigment spots.
What to avoid for now
For the first days, avoid regular retinol or vitamin C products from your daily routine, acids (AHA/BHA), scrubs and fragrance. Glowteq aftercare serums are the exception, as they are specially developed for use after microneedling. Stay out of the sauna, pool and sun, and avoid intense exercise.
When to seek help
Redness that gets worse after a few days, pus, swelling, fever or severe pain are not normal reactions. Stop treating and contact a doctor.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use the retinol and vitamin C aftercare serums right after microneedling?
Yes. These Glowteq serums are specially developed to be used within 15 minutes after microneedling. With regular retinol or vitamin C products from your daily routine, wait until your skin has calmed down.
Do I need SPF if I stay indoors?
Yes, it's wise. UV light also comes through windows. Apply SPF50 every morning and reapply when you go outside.
How long does my skin stay red after microneedling?
With home use, usually a few hours to a day. If it lasts longer or gets worse, contact a doctor.
Can I wear make-up after the treatment?
Preferably wait 24 hours. Make-up can irritate or contaminate the tiny channels in the skin.
